About

Stronger Together

Established in response to the hardship caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, R3 Cayman Foundation focuses on Readiness, Relief and Recovery in the Cayman Islands.

R3’s mission is to help Cayman proactively prepare for, resiliently cope with and sustainably recover from manmade or natural emergencies and disasters.

R3 directs its grants to Cayman’s high-functioning and crisis-skilled non-profits

With a founding contribution of CI$1M from the Kenneth B. Dart Foundation and a commitment to match a further CI$4M of donations, R3 is independently managed by an unpaid Board of Directors drawn from a range of business sectors and non-governmental community leaders. The foundation’s strong governance structure is supported by a former attorney general as Supervisor and the sitting Governor as Principal.

Balancing Cayman’s social, economic and environmental needs, R3 directs its grants to Cayman’s high-functioning and crisis-skilled non-profits. This giving philosophy lets community-centric organisations spend less time fundraising and more time carrying out the impactful programmes and services the Cayman community needs before, during and after a disastrous event or emergency.

“R3 Cayman Foundation made a significant investment in Literacy Is For Everyone (LIFE) with a CI$150,000 grant that covered the cost of approximately 357 laptops. Thank you R3 for helping us work towards equal access and opportunity for all children.”

– LIFE Former Executive Director Marilyn Connolly
