R3 Prioritises Partnerships to Strongly Position Cayman for Resilience
To date, R3 has made donations exceeding CI$7.68 million to more than 30 non-profit organisations and governmental agencies.
GRAND CAYMAN, 20 June 2023: The R3 Cayman Foundation, a philanthropic organisation focused on readiness, relief and recovery in the Cayman Islands, welcomes Dale Crowley as Chairman of its Board of Directors. As the private sector foundation enters its fourth year of operation, Mr. Crowley will focus on ensuring R3 has strategies, financial reserves and a strong network of corporate partners assembled to prepare for future disasters and support the ongoing work of Cayman’s hardworking non-profit organisations.
“R3 was established to help organisations and the people they serve recover from the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure our Islands are prepared for any future challenges,” said Mr. Crowley. “Now that Cayman has emerged from its recovery phase, our attention is shifting to readiness. I’m excited to collaborate with R3’s capable and experienced board to grow our reserve funding while continuing active support for the charitable groups that reduce vulnerability in our community.”
Mr. Crowley is qualified as both a barrister and attorney-at-law and has been practicing law in the Cayman Islands for over twenty-five years. He is the owner of local firm Boddens and leads its law practice Bodden & Bodden as managing partner and its corporate management company Bodden Corporate Services as managing director. He also serves as a board member and the New Generations Committee Chair of the Rotary Club of Grand Cayman.
In addition to a new chairman, the R3 board has also appointed Michael Meghoo as Readiness Committee Chair and Jackie Doak as Fundraising Committee Chair. Mr. Meghoo has a sound understanding of the community’s needs through his experience serving on several local committees and will ensure the board is investing in preventative measures to safeguard the Islands. Mrs. Doak has an extensive background in leadership and business development across diverse sectors and will provide strategic guidance to facilitate R3’s attracting new donors. She also serves on the board of the Kenneth B. Dart Foundation.
Since its inception in May 2020, R3 has made donations exceeding CI$7.68 million to more than 30 non-profit organisations and governmental agencies. All grants were made possible by contributions from generous donors, including the initial R3 funding and a series of matching pledges from the Kenneth B. Dart Foundation which total CI$6.5 million.
Individual donors, family foundations and corporations that contribute to R3 can rest assured that they are maximising the impact of their donation. In addition, donors can specify the area in which they wish their contributions to be deployed whether it be alleviating food insecurity, supporting housing initiatives or ensuring Cayman has the resources it needs to endure and prevail following a natural disaster.
In R3’s recently issued annual report, Mr. Crowley acknowledged founding chairman, Mr. Bryan Hunter. “The R3 Cayman Foundation’s outgoing chairman leaves shoes that are not only big to fill; they’re shoes that had never been worn before he broke them in. R3 was conceived in the face of dire need with no historical precedent. Bryan Hunter stepped up to serve Cayman, guiding the creation and stabilisation of R3 with wisdom, generosity and vision. He and the Board of Directors have set R3 up for long-term success, and I’m honoured to be part of charting its next ambitions.”
